Silencio=Muerte: Red Hot + Latin was a project focused on HIV/AIDS in Latino communities in the U.S. and South America. It was initiated and produced by Tomas Cookman, a prominent manager in the rock en Español world, which was thriving at the time. Red Hot also continued its tradition of producing great unexpected collaborations such as Los Lobos + Money Mark, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs + Fishbone and Cafe Tacuba + David Byrne. The album also mixed elements of hip hop and rock with classic performers such as Ruben Blades and Melissa Etheridge.
